    Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP)

    Hogan Family YMCA

    DEEP is a licensed program for anyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes, family members, and caregivers. This six-week program includes demonstrations and activities where members can learn about health management strategies and lifestyle choices taught by licensed coaches, pharmacists, and a Registered Dietitian.

    Fit to Fight

    A 12-week Wellness Program for Cancer Patients

    Fit to Fight is a 12-week wellness program for cancer patients. It is designed to help the patient maximize quality of life and minimize the side effects that cancer treatments can have on our bodies.

    If you are undergoing cancer treatment or have received treatment in the past five years, you can participate in the YMCA Fit to Fight program. Together, the YMCA, Clearview Cancer Institute, and the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation partnered to provide this program to cancer patients in the community.

    Parkinson’s Programs

    Available at the Southeast and Hogan Family YMCAs

    Join a Pedaling for Parkinson’s or Power for Parkinson’s class at the Y to feel better and build community! Classes are free to Y members and 30 minutes long.

    The Pedaling for Parkinson’s™ program is based on research indicating that forced exercise on a bicycle can reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s. In fact, participants who ride three days a week over eight weeks have shown improvement in their Parkinson’ s-related symptoms by as much as 35%.

    Power for Parkinson’s: Exercising can be challenging, but when you find a motivating community of workout partners and fun symptom-focused exercises to follow, you reach new heights. The Power for Parkinson’s class will help you take control of your health with mind-body fitness classes that cover 9 different Parkinson’s symptoms using props like balls, fitness bands, and weights. Chairs are available if needed.

    Sign up online or at the Southeast or Hogan Family YMCAs. All registrants will be individually assessed in order to establish needs and goals.

    Nutritional Counseling

    Available at the Southeast and Hogan Family YMCAs

    Meet with a Registered Dietitian who will customize a diet plan based on your specific dietary needs and circumstances. Information can be provided on weight management, sports nutrition, celiac disease, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and more.
