This holiday season, the Heart of the Valley YMCA held a Canned Food Drive at its three local branches: Southeast Family YMCA, Hogan Family YMCA and the Downtown Express YMCA. The YMCA helped collect non-perishable food to re-stock the Food Bank after Thanksgiving. Thanks to the generosity of our members, the YMCA collected over 714 lbs. of food for the Food Bank of North Alabama. That's 595 meals!

The Canned Food Drive was a part of the YMCA’s Togetherhood program and invites members to activate their social responsibility by participating in the YMCA’s cause to strengthen our community. YMCA members lead community projects through their local branches and invite all to participate– YMCA membership is not required. Togetherhood is designed to be a simple, fun, and rewarding way for members to identify ways they can give back and support their neighbors through their own ideas, skills, energy, and the network of the YMCA.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering at the YMCA, contact Hillary Franklin at the Southeast Family YMCA at hillary.franklin@ymcahuntsville.org or Colby Flack at the Hogan Family YMCA at colby.flack@ymcahuntsville.org.
