The Power of STEM

The ScienceY page is the STEM site for Heart of the Valley YMCA! Our Education and STEM programs offer an early introduction to a wide variety of concepts and teach science, technology, engineering, math, and more through creative play, setting a foundation for being successful in school and in life. Check out our STEM programs and our do-along video experiments.

    Developing Young People Through STEM

    The Y is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys.

    Our Education and STEM programs offer an early introduction to a wide variety of concepts and teach science, technology, engineering, math, and more through creative play, setting a foundation for being successful in school and in life.
    Kids who participate in STEM activities:

    • Learn how to solve problems
    • Develop critical-thinking skills
    • Become comfortable with failure and trying again
    • Learn to work successfully in teams
    • Develop self-confidence
    • Are able to see themselves in STEM careers

    Kids STEM for Neurodivergent Learners

    Join us at the Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville every third Saturday of each month August – May from 3:00 – 4:00 pm for a FREE STEM program for neurodivergent learners ages 5-10.
