Children attending the YMCA’s Early Childhood Education Centers always look forward to a visit from their friends at HEMSI (Huntsville Emergency Management Services) this year, they welcomed them with hugs. Every December, HEMSI employees collect toys, wrap them, and individually mark them for children at our YMCA Early Childhood Education Centers. Toys are delivered in a shiny ambulance, with its lights flashing. This year HEMSI staff delivered to the Y’s Northwest Early Childhood Education Center and to the Y’s Downtown Early Childhood Education Center. The children opened their gifts and thanked the HEMSI staff with heartfelt gratitude.
Other holiday activities at the YMCA Downtown, Southeast and Northwest Early Childhood Education Centers included Christmas parties with gifts for every child donated by the Huntsville Margarita Society. The Margarita Society collects toys at their annual Margarita Ball and then distributes them to 20+ charities across Northern Alabama. The goal is to provide a meaningful Christmas for otherwise under-provided children in our community. This year, the Margarita Society provided more than 175 gifts to the YMCA’s Early Childhood Education Centers.
We want to thank HEMSI and the Margarita Society for all your incredible support and generosity! This holiday season was bright thanks to your commitment to fostering a better Christmas for hundreds of children in need in our community.
