Heart of the Valley YMCA Welcomes Sarah Ruttmar as Controller
The Heart of the Valley YMCA is pleased to announce the hiring of Sarah Ruttmar as the organization’s new Controller, beginning March 23. Ruttmar brings extensive financial leadership experience and a strong commitment to the YMCA’s mission of strengthening communities.
In her role as Controller, Sarah will oversee the YMCA’s general ledger operations, manage financial reporting, and support internal and external reporting requirements. She will also serve as the primary liaison for the organization’s annual audit in partnership with third-party CPA firms and support financial reporting for YMCA of the USA and other stakeholders.
Sarah brings more than six years of financial accounting experience across multiple industries, including manufacturing and healthcare. She previously served as Director of Finance at the YMCA of the Treasure Coast in Florida, where she supported the organization through financial stewardship, process improvements and strategic decision-making.
A graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, Sarah developed a strong foundation in finance and nonprofit operations. She says she is excited to continue her work within the YMCA movement and contribute to the Heart of the Valley YMCA’s impact across the Huntsville community.
“Joining the Heart of the Valley YMCA is an exciting opportunity to support an organization that makes such a meaningful difference in the community,” said Sarah. “I’m grateful to be part of a team dedicated to strengthening lives and expanding access to programs that help people grow and thrive.”
Rob Gray, President and CEO of the Heart of the Valley YMCA, welcomed Sarah to the leadership team.
“Sarah brings both strong financial expertise and a deep understanding of the YMCA mission,” said Gray. “Her experience within the Y movement and her commitment to thoughtful financial stewardship will help ensure we continue to serve our community with transparency, accountability and impact.”
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors with her dog, hiking, biking, kayaking, traveling, reading and sharing a good laugh.
