Heart of the Valley YMCA Welcomes Lauren Dauro as Executive Director of Philanthropy
The Heart of the Valley YMCA is pleased to welcome Lauren Dauro as Executive Director of Philanthropy, where she will lead the association’s Annual Campaign while advancing donor engagement, corporate philanthropy, and community partnerships to expand the YMCA’s mission throughout the region.
A lifelong Huntsville resident and passionate advocate for healthy communities, Lauren brings more than 16 years of leadership experience with Fresenius Medical Care, a global healthcare organization serving patients with complex medical and social needs. A Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with a master’s degree and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, she advanced from direct patient care into senior corporate leadership, most recently overseeing strategic initiatives, cross-functional projects, communications, training, and performance systems supporting more than 2,000 Registered Dietitians nationwide.
Lauren has long demonstrated her commitment to nonprofit service through volunteer leadership and fundraising with the Eric S. Obermann Foundation, Alabama Kidney Foundation, ALS Association, and the Brass Band of Huntsville. Her unique combination of strategic planning, relationship building, operational excellence, and team leadership positions her to strengthen the YMCA’s culture of philanthropy and deepen community investment in its mission.

A graduate of Grissom High School, Samford University, UAB’s Dietetic Internship Program, and the University of Alabama, Lauren enjoys life with her husband, son, cat, five chickens, a thriving garden, and an ever-growing sourdough starter. She has completed the Rocket City Marathon twice and is currently training for her first triathlon. As a proud “YMCA Soccer Mom,” she’ll often be found on the sidelines cheering for her son while her husband serves as one of the team’s volunteer soccer coaches.
