in Training

Counselors in Training (CIT) is a teen leadership development program at YMCA Camp Cha-La-Kee

About Counselors in Training

Ages 15 years old

The Counselors in Training (CIT) program is where teens learn what it takes to be a counselor. This nearly three-week session focuses on leadership development, communication skills, team-building, goal-setting and having fun. These hands-on experiences are designed to teach teens the skills, attributes and strategies that are important traits of exemplary leaders and camp counselors. Leadership skills learned at the Y can carry over to school, homes and communities.

The Camp Cha-La-Kee experience for CIT campers

The CIT program will teach teens how to work with kids and co-workers, and gain experience planning and leading activities. Prepare for a future as a camp counselor and develop your leadership potential as you work closely with Y counselors to help deliver programming to younger campers. The CIT program is for teens age 15. The Counselors in Training session is June 23-July 12, 2024 (break during July 4 holiday).
